Space Gallery

Here's my space stuff, you can either pick a model or an introduction from the list, or start from the beginning and take the big tour of the gallery, as everything is linked to the next.

Since I originally started uploading my oldest models, got stuck, and later decided to start uploading all my new models as soon as I got pictures of them, there's a big gap of two years and about 30 models in the middle (you can see a complete list here).

If you're interested in building instructions, check if I've released them on the Building instructions-page.

At around new year 2004/2005 I joined the new Classic Space Forum, which gave me the next big push forward because, unlike on Lugnet.space, I suddenly got feedback from the other spacers:
Feedback that encouraged me to work harder on giving my models a good finish, instead of just stitching them together when the exciting experimentation with the general shape was over: Now I started working seriously on things like greeble, studlessness, functionality (or play value), colourscheme, and of course photography, since I realized that renderings look really dull and tend to keep people from commenting.

Competitions and Lugnet: 2004

44 Space P38 (26/2 2004) 45 Tic (18/3 2004) 15 models remaining

Although I started on this page very soon after I'd started rendering pictures of my old models, it were really the competitions on Lugnet that drew me out "in the public".
Being exposed to other peoples style, and trying to make models that fitted the different competitions was very beneficial to my building, because I gradually began moving away from the "grey plate with studs" look, and tried making other types of crafts besides the usual one man fighters.

Ldraw and MLCAD: 2003-2004

27 Spearhead (12/4 2003) 28 Bearhide (14/4 2003) 29 Palmtree (17/4 2003) 30 Myg3 (18/4 2003) 31 Discnose2 (18/4 2003) 32 Spiderweb (spring 2003) 33 (29/4 2003) 34 (31/5 2003) 35 (20/7 2003) 36 Cargolifter 2 (22/7 2003) 40 Crow 23/12 2003 7 models remaining

My discovery of the fancreated lego cad software familiy based on LDraw finally enabled me to get both decent building instructions and pictures of my old models. This triggered another big rebuilding project where I recreated my old stuff on the computer.
And like the great buildtrough, this reviewing enabled me to gather past experiences, and understand techniques like the jumper technique much better.

Great Buildthrough: 1998-2000 (2002)

20 Chickwing (summer 2002) 21 Cargolifter (summer 2002) 22 Chickwing 2 (autumn 2002) 23 Myg 2 (autumn 2002) 24 (23/12 2002) 25 Stealthy (winter 2002) 26 (winter 2002)

After spending a couple of years rebuilding all the official sets I owned, I returned to building my own models using my newly gained experience and inspiration to build a much more varied series.

Diamond style: 1997-1998

10 Diamond (27/7 1997) 11 Surfaceskimmer (28/7 1997) 12 Protodiscnose (xeroxed 28/7 1997) 13 Diamond 2 (xeroxed 14/9 1997) 14 Diamond 2b (xeroxed 5/10 1997) 15 Dropnose (xeroxed 5/10 1997) 16 (1997/1998) 17 Discnose (1997/1998) 18 Diamond 3 (1997/1998) 19 Diamond 4 (1997/1998)

The second series was more like a building program, where I experimented mostly with the wings and wingconfiguration, while I used some pretty basic shapes and techniques for the nose, cockpit and engine.
Especially diamond shaped noses were a common element that gave the series it's name.

Searching for a style: 1995-1996

02 (1995) 03 Protodiamond (20/2 1995) 04 (1995) 05 (1995) 06 Myg, sketch only (1996) 07 Blue base (1996) 08 (1996) 09 Morris Minor (1996)

With a base in the Classic period of Lego Space, this series were an attempt to break out of the "kid style" and make something seriously looking with a coherent shape.
